EDP LEVEL 1 DROUGHT UPDATE

The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) has officially declared a Level 1 Drought Response statewide. This means all public water systems, including the City of Porterdale are required to begin enhanced water conservation awareness efforts. We are asking all residents and businesses to join us in being mindful of water use during this period.What You Can Do to Help Conserve Water: # Regularly check for leaks inside and outside your home and repair them promptly # Turn off the tap while brushing your teeth, shaving, washing your face, or rinsing food # Water your lawn and landscaping only when necessary, and make sure sprinklers are aimed at plants, not sidewalks or streetsOutdoor Watering Rules Under Level 1: General landscape watering is allowed only between 4 PM and 10 AM each day.The following activities are allowed at any time of day: • Watering personal food gardens • Watering new or replanted plants, seeds, or turf for the first 30 days • Using drip irrigation or soaker hoses • Hand watering with a hose that has an automatic shutoff or with a handheld containerWe appreciate everyone’s cooperation as we work together to protect our shared water resources. Let’s all do our part to conserve water and support our community during this drought response.
